The swing of things… June 28, 2010

So it turns out that classes here at GTL really aren’t such a light time commitment as one would be led to believe. None the less, I’m finally feeling acclimated to just being/living in Europe. It sure did take long enough, but now the lack of ability to communicate, the confusion that generally accompanied even the simplest of daily task, and the uncertainty of what to expect while traveling have finally run their course. I’m feeling much more comfortable with traveling and functioning in places where I don’t know how to even say please and thank you. France (and specifically Metz) is much better than that. But, I don’t think that I will ever be quite used to the fact that practically every hotel room in France and Italy has a bidet.

I’ve gotten to do and see SOOOOO many things since I arrived. For instance, I’ve been to Marseilles and seen Chateau D’If. I’ve taken a boat cruise through the wine region of south western Germany. I’ve been to the biggest club in the world in Prague. I’ve taken part in the celebration of Munich’s founding day. I’ve walked along the path of the wall that divided Berlin and Germany. I’ve paid respects at the largest American cemetery in Europe. And that’s just a taste of what we have been doing in Europe! There are plenty more adventures to come!

It is getting to point where we must have almost all of our weekends planned out so we can get train and hotel reservations, among other things. I believe my schedule is set to be as follows: Bruges (+Brussels?), Vienna and Salzburg, Paris for Bastille Day, Paris and Versailles, Bern and Interlachen (with my parents!), and finally Florence – one of my all time favorite cities – and Cinqueterra.

Also, I’ll be posting pictures of my travels so far (if I can ever figure out how to do that!)
