My first week in Lyon was learning about what would be my home for the next six weeks. To travel the city, everyone in our Lyon group bought a metro pass (covering tram, metro, and funicular lines) using our student cards that CPE Lyon had provided for us.
As a group, we were given a tour of Vieux Lyon (Old Lyon) and Fourviere (a hill with a beautiful view of the city). Just to give you an idea of how the city looks, Lyon has grown from West to East across the Rhone and Saone rivers. You can see this in the picture below by just looking at the architecture of the buildings. This picture was taken from the West on top of Fourviere.
Here, I also saw the Basilique Notre-Dame de Fourviere, which would be the first of many impressive churches I would see in Europe. A good bit…
