Year: 2nd year

Hometown: Glen Ridge, NJ

Study Abroad Program: Oxford

Hi, I’m Cole Ellertson, a second year aerospace engineering major here at Georgia Tech from Glen Ridge, New Jersey and a member of the 2009 class of President’s Scholars. I attended the Glen Ridge public High School where I was involved in both varsity soccer and basketball, served as an Emergency Medical Technician for my town’s volunteer ambulance squad, and was active in service organizations through my church. Since arriving at Georgia Tech, I have been involved with organizing the Student Alumni Association during my fall semester and co-serving as Vice President of Member Benefits in the spring, while also completing undergraduate research in the Aerospace Combustion Lab on campus. After studying abroad and taking classes in the coming fall, I plan to begin the Georgia Tech Co-op program in the spring of 2011.

This summer I am participating the Oxford Study Abroad Program with European Study. During the course of this program I will travel through the European cities of Florence, Venice, Vienna, Rome, Prague, Berlin, Brugge and Paris studying the history art and architecture and music by European composers. Then I will spend an additional six weeks in Worchester College of Oxford studying Statics and Technical Writing for my aerospace degree. Currently I am taking the Oxford pre-departure classes here in Atlanta, soon to embark on what I hope proves to be a fantastic educational and cultural experience in Europe.
