Maggie Smith

I am a third year civil engineering major and architectural history minor from Augusta, Georgia. At Tech, I was a member of Freshmen Council, the Outreach Chair of the Catholic Center, Service Chair for Lambda Sigma, Donations Co-Chair for Dance Marathon,  Member at Large for Ramblin’ Reck Club, T-Book Design Editor, and an avid Yellow Jacket fan. If you are a potential student, parent, or incoming freshman looking for a resource for information on Tech please feel free to contact me to answer general Tech questions as well as questions on my above involvements, civil engineering, study abroads, and work abroads, or anything really.

Last summer I participated in the Art and Architecture in Greece and Italy trip through the college of architecture, and I had such a wonderful experience that I thought I would find a way to apply my new knowledge.  Several letters, emails, and phone calls later, I was blessed with the opportunity to fulfill a dream and come to work on the restoration of the Acropolis in Athens, Greece. I will be working under the direction of Tasos Tanoulas on the Propylaia as an assistant to his head civil engineer from May 20th to December 16th of this year.

I hope this blog can give you some perspective on my experiences as well as provide you with the opportunity to ask questions about Tech and its role in shaping a system that allowed and promoted my pursuit of this opportunity.
